I bought the Greenworks Dethatcher based on another positive review and am very satisfied. I've used it twice so far. It got the thatch up and saved me hours, if not days, of labor using my back and arms to swing my heavy thatch rake. The Greenworks Dethatcher helped accelerate our yard work so that we could get new seed down sooner and take advantage of the spring rains earlier.
We put some seed down last fall and we were a little worried about running the Greenworks Dethatcher over the areas that already had some new growth. The Greenworks Dethatcher didn't pull up or harm the new growth. I used the highest setting for the hilly part of my yard so I wouldn't harm the machine's prongs and the lowest setting for the more flat areas to get as much thatch up as possible.
Read the manual, it has a lot of good recommendations like the gage extension cord needed so you don't burn the engine out. It also is not to be used for ground elevations of more than 15% grade but I used it on my steep hill, which is more like 30% grade and was just very careful. The machine seems to propel itself, although I haven't found that advertised anywhere.

I ordered the dethatcher to cleanup approximately 1 inch thick thatch on a 10,000 sq ft tall fescue lawn. I have rented the large commercial machines in the past. They are very heavy and cumbersome to use. The Greenworks machine arrived in just a few days. It was a breeze to assemple and the directions were clear. The machine itself is very light and easy to maneuver. I used a 12 gauge electrical cord plugged into my outside outlet. I was able to do the lawn in very short order. I used a steady walking pace, be very careful to only push the machine in a forward direction. I think dragging it backwards would have probably torn up my lawn. I began with using its highest position and discovered that it work great in that position. Prior to dethatching I did mow the lawn down to 2 inches. I used my mower with its attached bag to pick up the thatch. I was very pleased with the job.

this machine gets the job done and done very well. It's easy to push around. actually I had to somehow drag it otherwise it just ran on its own.
Mine comes with a set of 18 replacement tines.
