This has been a great device and has bought my projector a few more years! I needed HDMI for the Apple TV 2G and this did the trick. Also this is a great seller!

Works well, but will only accept up to a 720p signal from the HDMI input. As you may know already if playing with HDMI outputs, you have to manually set your DVD player's output to a specific signal type (720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and if you guess wrong, no picture). You need to have a RCA style composite cable handy to see the DVD setting screen if you guess wrong BTW, lessons learned. But after you set your blue ray or dvd up converter player to send a 720p signal through its HDMI port and connect it to this converter, the result is an excellent centered sharp picture much better quality than using the DVD players RGB output, if it even has one. All the players I have do not max out the RGB signal resolution, but default to 480p only BTW, so the only way to get a higher resolution to your older RGB projector or TV is to use the HDMI output from the player and this converter's RGB output, or another one that can take a 1080i or p signal, which I have not been able to find. But the picture this converter outputs from a 720p input is excellent on my Toshiba 1280x800 pixel native projector even at 93 inch diagonal size. You can see all the pores on peoples faces, which is very interesting if you never were able to see that level of resolution before. FYI it seems all my RGB output DVD equipment max's out at 480p, the blue ray and up convertered interlaced DVD players also max out their RGB at 480p. The only way to get something higher is to use their HDMI ports. These ports will output at up to 1080p. FYI 1080p is 1920x1080 pixels while 720p is 1280x800 pixels. HD TV is 720p BTW. Anyway using this converter gives pretty much a max'd out resolution to my projector which is what I wanted to do.

I had been in a bind for a while with my home theater setup. My projector didn't have HDMI, so I had been using a Component to VGA cable for my PS3 and Motorola Cable Box. This was fine until I decided to add an HTPC. My receiver only had two component inputs, so to switch to the htpc, I had to actually switch the VGA cables. I had tried component and vga switches that all lead to blurry video. Ordered this unit, received it in 3 days. Hooked it up in about 10 minutes. My setup went as follows: PS3, Cable Box, and HTPC all hooked into receiver through HDMI. Hooked the receiver up to this converter and everything works great. The picture looks better than it ever did before. I am definitely going to look into other products from ViewHD for my future home theater needs.
